Red chillies are an all-rounder in the kitchen and a must in Indian and other Asian dishes. They not only give the food a beautiful color, but also a (depending on the dosage) sharp to very sharp taste.
Chilies are used for both cold and warm dishes and harmonize with many spices and herbs.
Chilies have many uses, especially with hearty dishes with meat or in soups. In modern cuisine, however, they have also been used for desserts for some time, especially in dishes containing chocolate.
Good to know:
Hot chillies contain a large number of health-promoting ingredients such as vitamin C. Fresh chillies contain around three times as much vitamin C as citrus fruits in relation to their weight. They have immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties and can help fight off infections not only in winter.
Incidentally, the capsaicin contained in chillies is responsible for the heat and pain stimulus that chillies can trigger. The more capsaicin a chilli contains, the hotter it is. This component of the spice, which is stimulated by blood circulation, is used for pain-relieving plasters or ointments against rheumatism and tension.
